This license governs how you may use maps, images, PDFs, SVG files, and other visual content you create and export using Ultimaps ("Exports"). It also governs the ready-made map files you download from Ultimaps map pages ("Downloads"), which are licensed as Standard Exports under section 1.4. By downloading, embedding, or otherwise using an Export, you agree to the terms below.
This license is a supplement to the Ultimaps Terms of Service. In case of conflict, the Terms of Service prevail.

The full terms below apply in all cases.
We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use Standard Exports for personal and commercial purposes, subject to the conditions in this section.
Every Standard Export is delivered with a visible "Made with ultimaps.com" credit rendered into the image. You must keep this credit visible whenever the Export is displayed or distributed.
The attribution must remain within the same visible area as the map, so that a viewer sees the map and the credit together without needing to scroll, click, or open a separate page. This applies to web pages, social posts, slide decks, videos, PDFs, and printed material.
You must not crop, blur, overlay, recolor to blend into the background, or otherwise obscure the attribution. Placing the credit in a footer, appendix, bibliography, page source, metadata, or a separate credits slide does not satisfy this requirement.
Ready-made Downloads from our map pages follow a lighter credit rule, set out in section 1.4.
When you publish an Export online, a link back to ultimaps.com is appreciated but not required. A link does not replace the visible credit on the image.

The blank, outline, labeled, and colored map files offered for download on Ultimaps map pages, including the blank maps and vector maps pages, are Downloads. Downloads are Standard Exports, so sections 1.1 to 1.3 apply to them, with these clarifications:
To use one of these maps with no attribution at all, open it in Ultimaps Studio and download a Pro Export.
When you pay for a single map Export, you unlock a 24-hour Pro window for that map. During the window you can re-edit and re-export the map as many times as you like. Workspace subscriptions grant the equivalent Pro rights for every map in the workspace while the subscription is active.
We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use each Pro Export downloaded during an active Pro window or subscription, subject to the conditions in this section.
Pro Exports are delivered without the "Made with ultimaps.com" credit. You are not required to display attribution when using Pro Exports.

The 24-hour Pro window applies to the specific map you paid for. Exports downloaded within the window retain their Pro license indefinitely, even after the window closes. To re-export the same map after the window has ended, you need to purchase a new Pro Export or hold an active workspace subscription.
Ultimaps base map geography comes from public sources. The credits below are ours to make, and we make them here; they do not add conditions to your use of an Export beyond those in sections 1 and 2.
Natural Earth. Most Ultimaps base map geography is derived from Natural Earth, a public domain map dataset. No attribution to Natural Earth is legally required, but you are welcome to include it.
U.S. Census Bureau. The US ZIP code maps are built from the Census Bureau's 2020 ZIP Code Tabulation Area cartographic boundary files, which are in the public domain. We simplify that geography for display, so an Ultimaps ZIP map is a repackaging of Census data and not an official Census Bureau product; the Census Bureau does not endorse it.
GeoNames. The place name attached to each US ZIP code — the "Addison" in "75001 Addison" — comes from GeoNames postal data, licensed under CC BY 4.0. The ZIP digits and the boundaries themselves are Census data, not GeoNames data.
You do not need to reproduce the GeoNames credit in your own work. ZIP maps are drawn without labels, so a map you export contains boundaries and your own colors — no GeoNames content — and CC BY 4.0 permits attribution by link, which this page provides. If you deliberately add the place names yourself, for example by labelling regions with their full titles, credit GeoNames alongside the map.
© swisstopo. One boundary on the Switzerland map comes from Swiss federal data rather than from Natural Earth. The commune of Moutier moved from the canton of Bern to the canton of Jura on 1 January 2026, and that stretch of the Bern and Jura boundary is derived from swissBOUNDARIES3D, published by the Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo) under its free geodata terms. Those terms allow use for any purpose, including commercial use and derived work, on condition that the source is indicated. Every other boundary on that map is Natural Earth.
You do not need to reproduce the swisstopo credit in your own work. swisstopo's attribution rules state that where their data sits in a database with many different sources, it is enough to name swisstopo in that database's list of sources, and that explicit mention in every use of the data is then no longer required, "not even by the licensee of the relevant database". This page is that list, and you are that licensee.
You are responsible for ensuring that any additional data you overlay on a map (your own datasets, uploaded geography, third-party layers) complies with the license of that data.
You may refer to Ultimaps by name in your marketing and editorial materials — for example, "Built with Ultimaps" or "Made with ultimaps.com" — provided you do not imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation that does not exist. You may not use the Ultimaps logo, wordmark, or other brand assets in a way that suggests your product or service is an official Ultimaps product.
This license terminates automatically and immediately if you breach any of its terms. On termination, you must stop distributing and displaying the affected Exports and remove them from any material under your control within a reasonable period.
Termination of this license does not affect any other rights or remedies available to Ultimaps under applicable law.
Refund and return terms for Pro Exports and subscriptions are set out in our Returns Policy.
We may update this license from time to time. The version in effect when you downloaded an Export governs your use of that Export. Future changes do not apply retroactively to Exports already downloaded, except where required by law.
