Ultimaps Content License

This license governs how you may use maps, images, PDFs, SVG files, and other visual content you create and export using Ultimaps ("Exports"). By downloading, embedding, or otherwise using an Export, you agree to the terms below.

This license is a supplement to the Ultimaps Terms of Service. In case of conflict, the Terms of Service prevail.

The full terms below apply in all cases.

1. Standard License (free Exports)

We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use Standard Exports for personal and commercial purposes, subject to the conditions in this section.

1.1 Required attribution

Every Standard Export is delivered with a visible "Made with ultimaps.com" credit rendered into the image. You must keep this credit visible whenever the Export is displayed or distributed.

The attribution must remain within the same visible area as the map, so that a viewer sees the map and the credit together without needing to scroll, click, or open a separate page. This applies to web pages, social posts, slide decks, videos, PDFs, and printed material.

You must not crop, blur, overlay, recolor to blend into the background, or otherwise obscure the attribution. Placing the credit in a footer, appendix, bibliography, page source, metadata, or a separate credits slide does not satisfy this requirement.

1.2 Permitted uses

You may:

  • Use Standard Exports for personal, educational, editorial, or commercial purposes
  • Include Standard Exports inside larger works you publish or sell (articles, books, reports, presentations, videos, courses), as long as the attribution remains visible with the map as described in 1.1
  • Publish and share Standard Exports on your own website, blog, or social channels — including offering the image as a free download — as long as the "Made with ultimaps.com" attribution remains visible on the image
  • Modify colors, labels, and annotations through the Ultimaps editor before exporting

1.3 Prohibited uses

You may not:

  • Remove, hide, or obscure the "Made with ultimaps.com" attribution
  • Monetize the Export itself — for example, selling it, charging for access to it, or placing it behind a paywall as a stand-alone graphic, wallpaper, or map file
  • Aggregate Standard Exports into libraries, galleries, or catalogs where Ultimaps-generated maps are the primary offering to your audience
  • Upload Standard Exports to stock image libraries, template marketplaces, icon sets, or asset packs
  • Use Standard Exports to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine learning or AI models
  • Use Standard Exports in the creation or minting of NFTs, tokenized assets, or similar blockchain-based items
  • Sublicense, transfer, or assign this license to any third party

If you need to remove the attribution, upgrade to a Pro Export.

2. Pro License (paid Exports & subscription Exports)

When you pay for a single map Export, you unlock a 24-hour Pro window for that map. During the window you can re-edit and re-export the map as many times as you like. Workspace subscriptions grant the equivalent Pro rights for every map in the workspace while the subscription is active.

We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use each Pro Export downloaded during an active Pro window or subscription, subject to the conditions in this section.

2.1 No attribution required

Pro Exports are delivered without the "Made with ultimaps.com" credit. You are not required to display attribution when using Pro Exports.

2.2 Permitted uses

You may:

  • Use Pro Exports for any personal, editorial, or commercial purpose
  • Embed Pro Exports inside products you sell or distribute — including client deliverables, reports, books, courses, videos, posters, merchandise, and similar works where the map is one component of a larger offering
  • Deliver Pro Exports to clients as part of work you have been paid for, provided the client uses them only within that engagement

2.3 Prohibited uses

You may not:

  • Resell, license, or redistribute Pro Exports as stand-alone assets. The map Export must be embedded in a larger product or deliverable — it cannot be the product
  • Upload Pro Exports to stock image libraries, template marketplaces, icon sets, design asset packs, or similar redistribution platforms
  • Bundle Pro Exports as the primary feature of a template or design kit offered to others
  • Use Pro Exports to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine learning or AI models
  • Use Pro Exports in the creation or minting of NFTs, tokenized assets, or similar blockchain-based items
  • Sublicense, transfer, or assign this license to third parties as a stand-alone grant

2.4 Pro window and re-exports

The 24-hour Pro window applies to the specific map you paid for. Exports downloaded within the window retain their Pro license indefinitely, even after the window closes. To re-export the same map after the window has ended, you need to purchase a new Pro Export or hold an active workspace subscription.

3. Map data attribution

Ultimaps base map geography is derived in part from Natural Earth, a public domain map dataset. No attribution to Natural Earth is legally required, but you are welcome to include it.

You are responsible for ensuring that any additional data you overlay on a map (your own datasets, uploaded geography, third-party layers) complies with the license of that data.

4. Trademark and branding

You may refer to Ultimaps by name in your marketing and editorial materials — for example, "Built with Ultimaps" or "Made with ultimaps.com" — provided you do not imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation that does not exist. You may not use the Ultimaps logo, wordmark, or other brand assets in a way that suggests your product or service is an official Ultimaps product.

5. Termination

This license terminates automatically and immediately if you breach any of its terms. On termination, you must stop distributing and displaying the affected Exports and remove them from any material under your control within a reasonable period.

Termination of this license does not affect any other rights or remedies available to Ultimaps under applicable law.

6. Refunds

Refund and return terms for Pro Exports and subscriptions are set out in our Returns Policy.

7. Changes

We may update this license from time to time. The version in effect when you downloaded an Export governs your use of that Export. Future changes do not apply retroactively to Exports already downloaded, except where required by law.
